Hello, Goodbye! A Guide to Waving in the Country
As promised, here’s my film, which screened today as part of the Deep West Video program (it’s also happening tomorrow in the Turquoise Room at the Convention Center at 11 am). I’ll post the other films over the next few days so you can see them as well.
This was so funny! Our rural road has some of the same stuff going on! Lately I’ve been getting the “who the @#!@$ is that stare” from the “Jiggs Patrol”, ya know the 80 something old man driving 35 mph on the highway going from the ranch to the bar. I get my mail and still waive the - what you call the rodeo queen wave- because I STILL know who my neighbors are!
Posted by Ali on 01/29 at 11:56 PMYou finally made the “wave” movie!! Somebody had to do it. Congratulations.
P.S. the “salute” is a little over the top for us old-timers. Sublety is the mark of of a heartfelt wave - flamboyance is for newcomers and adolescents.
Posted by Jim B. on 02/16 at 10:49 PMJim, I’m sorry I didn’t send you the link sooner. I’ve pretty much been on the road non-stop for the past few weeks. I know we have discussed this topic many times. So much so that I really should have included you in the credits. My apologies for that!
I have been thinking about our trip to visit the Larabees. Maybe it’s time to make a short film about that...you know to get you on the path to writing the book!
