Boot Camp
I made a short film last year for the Western Folklife Center about my friend and bootmaking teacher, Jack Rowin. It showed at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in February, and now it’s online, but if you go there, you’ll have to scroll down the page a little bit. I know that might sound like a lot of trouble, but would you be tempted to watch it if I told you the movie also features the musical magic of Matt Margolin? Of course, you would.
Kristin,
How did you like bootmaking school with Jack? I’m considering making the drive over the course of several weekends to learn the art.Did you stay nearby or split the time over weekends?

I have been meaning to follow up and compliment you and your team on your flick. It has captured the spirit of Bootmaker Jack Owen perfectly. I have spent 4-5 weekends up there and am finishing my second pair of boots. I love it and I love Jack! He is a rascal for sure! Jack is soooo very proud of this movie you made. You’ve made one old man pretty happy by honoring him with this special movie!
Cheers
